The Nuts and Bolts of Agile Practices with Ann Konkler

Wondering how to work Agile methodology into your development organization?  With this interactive workshop, you'll achieve a high-level understanding of the principles and mechanics of Agile methods and the benefits you can gain from them. The course is also designed to familiarize attendees with the roles in Agile organizations and any “rules of engagement” they should know to help the organization be more effective and successful. This course is designed to provide both the “whys” and the “hows” of Agile to practitioners, managers, and stakeholders in a manner that gives them confidence that Agile is a disciplined process that has a proven track record of success in similar organizations. It also helps them understand what Agile means to them, and how they can participate and interact with agile delivery teams to optimize success.

Topics include:

  • What is Agile?
  • Scrum Framework
  • Agile Roles
  • Iteration Basics
  • Backlogs and User Stories
  • Agile Estimating & Planning
  • Tracking Progress
  • Adopting Agile

Ann Konkler is a Certified ScrumMaster and Agile Coach  with Rally Software. Ann began her IT career over 15 years ago as a developer working on mainframe applications. Her later roles included Business Analyst, Technical Lead, Project Manager, and Development Manager for infrastructure, eCommerce, and PMO teams.

In 2003, Ann was introduced to Agile when she was asked to manage a group of developers who were early adopters of eXtreme Programming. Curiosity about the methodology soon turned to enthusiasm and then a vision for scaling Agile across the organization. Starting out as the management spokesperson for Agile, Ann eventually asked to transition out of her management role in order to give full attention to defining and rolling out a new IT-wide solution delivery life cycle, with Agile at its core.

Ann is a Certified ScrumMaster and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She is also certified in Project Management and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Portland State University.
