Real Data Transformation Begins and Ends with Culture

    Tuesday,  January 15th

    Speaker Jim Wilt, Symetra

ABSTRACT:   Real Data Transformation Begins and Ends with Culture

Beyond technology & buzzwords, it is the cultural shift that truly determines success or failure when moving data to new platforms (like cloud). From executive sponsorship to security perceptions to teams - building your roadmap and how to investigate the platforms in a mired of cloud data & BI elixirs requires a solid baseline understanding of your culture first & foremost.

We will review 30-years of disruption to identify patterns (and anti-patterns) of adoption that can guide our forward movement into our next journey to adopt that next best destination for our data needs. Let’s leverage our cultures to drive success!

We will wrap up with some thoughts around the handling of tools and their role the transformation of data systems amid cultural adoption.

    February 2019 Chapter Meeting

Why Data Management is Even More Critical Than It’s Ever Been

    Speaker Glenn Fourie, Concur

    Tuesday, February 12th

The intersection of data and regulations make data management more important now than ever before. The advent of highly consequential regulations like the European Global Data Protection Requirements (GDPR)  and emerging state regulations like those California, now require companies to rely heavily on managing critical  data consistently and in a very controlled manner. This presentation will look at a few of these requirements as use cases. This will be presented from a data management perspective. We will look at the value-add role the data management office needs to play to mitigate risk and how to engage executives to increasingly engage in this issue.

Glenn specializes in leading Governance, Risk and Compliance teams in global multinationals. He holds certifications in cyber security, privacy and data management.  Glenn is also a certified enterprise architect and is experienced in Six Sigma and Microsoft technologies. Glenn is a Cyber Security Senior Manager at SAP. He primarily supports Concur - the SAP travel company in Bellevue, Washington.
