Rick F. van der Lans is an international consultant, author and lecturer specializing in business intelligence, data warehousing and database technology. He is the Managing Director of R20/Consultancy. Rick has advised many large companies worldwide on defining their data warehouse architectures. He is the chairman of the European BI and Data Warehousing Conference (organized annually in London), a columnist for two major newspapers in the Benelux, and he writes regularly for the B-eye-Network. He is the author of the first book on SQL entitled “Introduction to SQL”. His most recent book, “Data Virtualization for BI Systems” was published in of 2012.
Wayne Eckerson has been a thought leader in the business intelligence and analytics field since the early 1990's. For many years, Wayne served as director of education and research at The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) where he oversaw the company’s content and training programs and chaired its BI Executive Summit. Wayne is the author of two widely read books “Performance Dashboards: Measuring, Monitoring, and Managing Your Business” (2005, 2010) and “The Secrets of Analytical Leaders: Insights from Information Insiders.”(2012). Wayne is currently director of research and founder of the BI Leadership Forum, a research and education service offering regular briefings to directors of BI and analytical programs on emerging technologies and trends. As a consultant, Wayne provides advice and assistance to user and vendor organizations, and conducts in-house workshops on numerous topics.
