Often times, it's difficult to "sell" Data Management concepts such as
Meta-data Management and Data Governance
to our Business Stakeholders. Inherently, the Business Stakeholders understand the implied intangible benefits of improved data quality; nevertheless, all businesses require explicit tangible business impact to justify investments in process improvements, resources and IT Systems.
With this backdrop, the teams in this
Case Study
took a very prescriptive approach to quantify the impact of their project and frame the benefits in a context that would resonate with their Business Teams. The IT and Business teams partnered together and secured strong Business sponsorship using a combination of Six Sigma and Lean principles, coupled with fundamental data management principles and business acumen.
What you will learn:
Lesson learned on applying Meta-data Management and Governance
Examples of quantifying business impact
How governance can facilitate and accelerate cross-team collaboration
