Board of Directors Roles & Openings 

The Board of Directors term runs from August through July of the next year.  Each Term runs for one year with the exception of President which is a three year team. Board Members are active participants in the planning and execution of the DAMA-PS mission.  

For the 2026 - 2027 cycle we have the following Board of Director openings: President (1), Finance (1), Marketing & Communications (2), Special Events (2), Partnerships (1), Technology (1). See full description of Board of Description roles below.

ROLE DEFINITIONS

President  (1 position)

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Board of Directors and DAMA-PS chapter at large
  • Leads Board of Directors meetings including scheduling, and agenda
  • Coordinate with other DAMA Chapter Presidents
  • Represent DAMA-PS to outside groups and bears financial accountability for the health and well being of the chapter
  • Educate members on job responsibilities and ensure VP of Operations publishes and maintains them
  • Engage with DAMA Board members to ensure roles & responsibilities are understood and executed faithfully
  • Agree to mentor and advise new Board President at the end of their term

President of Operations (FILLED)

  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Fulfills role of President in their absence
  • Records and publishes Board of Directors' meeting minutes
  • Researches and prepares documents regarding DAMA-PS' legal status as non-profit organization
  • Contacts government agencies regarding legal status of the organization
  • Maintains the Bylaws
  • Maintains official communications

CO-Vice President of FINANCE (1 position)

  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Manages the organization finances
  • Maintains financial records
  • Diligently uses organization’s monetary resources
  • Notifies President of any financial health risks
  • Makes payment on organization’s financial obligations
  • Prepares and files income tax reports (IRS 990), Non-profit Corporation Annual report, and other filings that may be required
  • Gathers all monies collected at any events and deposits them
  • Prepares Financial Statements for every Executive Board meeting
  • Keeps financial transactions and records up-to-date in QuickBooks
  • Develops annual budget with input from other board members
CO-VICE President of Marketing & COMMUNICATIONS (2 Positions)
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Develop annual Marketing plan and budget
  • Design, and maintain the organization website
  • Develop digital content for use via social media, web and email
  • Develop print content for distribution at on-site events
  • Advertise all recurring and special events using digital and print medium 
  • Engage with other DAMA Chapters and organizations 
  • Assist w/ DAMA Day planning and execution (weekly meetings Jan - May)
  • Assist w/ Chapter newsletter
  • Maintains presentation archives

co-vice presidents of membership (FILLED)

  • Design, and maintain the organization website
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Maintains membership records and promotes membership
  • Collection of dues and fees for membership and activities
  • Works with VP of Marketing for Membership Marketing
  • Responsible for signing in registrations for events or ensuring there is someone to do so
  • Sends out reminders for lapsed memberships
  • Makes changes/updates to membership accounts

CO-Vice President of PARTNERSHIPS (1 Positions)

  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Develop annual partnership plan
  • Identify & develops strategic partnerships with local organizations, industry groups, and other DAMA chapters to enhance the chapter’s impact and visibility
  • Collaborates with Marketing & Communications to promote partnership initiatives through social media, email, and the organization’s website
  • Coordinates with Special Events and Programs and Education to align partnership activities with chapter events and educational programs
  • Works with Membership to explore partnership opportunities that drive membership growth
  • Builds and maintains relationships with partner organizations, ensuring mutual benefits and alignment with DAMA Puget Sound’s mission
  • Represents DAMA Puget Sound at external events, conferences, or meetings to foster and cultivate new partnership opportunities
  • Develops proposals and agreements for partnership collaborations, in consultation with the Board
  • Tracks and reports on partnership outcomes, including metrics on engagement, event participation, or shared initiatives
  • Suggests innovative ideas to expand the chapter’s network and influence within the data management community
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings

CO-Vice President of Programs and Education (FILLED)

  • Develop annual Programs and Education plan
  • Develop Programs and Education budget in collaboration with VPs of Finance
  • Works with the other board members and members at large to understand programming needs
  • Surveys topics of interest from DAMA-PS members annually
  • Develop and Manages DAMA-PS chapter IP and content creation
  • Arranges for speakers to present at DAMA-PS chapter meetings
  • Coordinates the venue and event scheduling
  • Maintains Event Planning information and communication with the Executive Board          
  • Coordinates timely advertising of DAMA-PS meetings with the VP of Communication and VP of Marketing          
  • Collects confirmation on speaker engagements, including speaker biography and topic content
  • Conducts communications with speakers including logistics speaker fees and event follow-up
  • Communicate the agreed financial obligations for Program Services to the VP of Financial Services

CO-VICE PRESIDENTS OF SPECIAL EVENTS (2 POSITION)
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Develops annual plan for special events
  • Develop annual special events budget in collaboration with VPs of Finance
  • Responsible for speaker(s), venue(s), sponsor(s), and communication for special events
  • Plans and manages all aspects of DAMA Day annual convention
  • Works with the other board members and chapter to understand programming needs
  • Work with Programs and Education VPs in executing special events
  • Work with VPs of Partnerships to identify and collaborate on partnership opportunities
  • Coordinate as needed with VPs of Marketing & Communications, Programs and Education, Finance and President on special events

CO-Vice President of Technology (1 POSITION)

  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings
  • Develop annual technology plan
  • Develop annual technology budget in collaboration with VP of Finance
  • Ensures technology used by DAMA-PS board members and members at large is robust, user friendly and agile
  • Works with the other board members and members at large to understand technology needs
  • Execute technology needs for DAMA Day, special events and Program & Education events
  • Manage and report on google analytics and recommend improvements to Marketing and Communications and other board members
  • Manage SEO
